Ignite Alumni Network Feb New ways businesses using AI lead discussions at latest Ignite event - Business Ready

Insightful discussions around how Midlands businesses are using AI in ingenious new ways took centre stage as a fast-growing network held its latest meeting.

Theย University of Warwick Science Parkโ€™sย Ignite Alumni Networkย met for the eighth time since its launch in 2023, bringing together businesses and associates that have been supported by the Science Parkโ€™sย Igniteย incubation andย Business Readyย programmes, which offer affordable space, access to mentors and specialist support, and regular opportunities for peer learning.

The network has rapidly evolved into a collaborative community that champions entrepreneurial resilience, celebrates shared learning, and fosters long-term relationships between founders who continue to support one another long after their formal programmes have ended.

The latest event at theย Venture Centreย heard from companies that are using ingenious AI solutions to improve results for customers or form the backbone of their business.

Beyond the formal agenda, the gathering reflected the networkโ€™s sentiment of a safe environment where founders openly exchange their wins, challenges and lessons learned, helping to accelerate each otherโ€™s growth.

Attendees heard from David Patrykowski, founder of e-commerce data company Backona, who explained how his companyโ€™s AI solution is providing much more valuable data analysis for its clients, helping businesses make better marketing decisions faster without needing in-house technical expertise.

Chris Golby of CultureNav then explored the human side of AI, outlining how his company can support organisations to better understand their work culture by quickly analysing employee sentiment to improve its clientsโ€™ decision making around boosting employee experience and productivity.

The final presentation came from Don Dhaliwal of DF4 Labs, who demonstrated his companyโ€™s new app generator that can produce production-ready software in a matter of minutes using its own AI system.

Further talks were given by Mira Androniciuc of investment firm DSW Ventures, who explained its new focus on investing in the Midlands and its targeted approach to investing in companies worth less than ยฃ10 million.

Members also heard from new sponsors of the Ignite Alumni Network, IP specialists Marks & Clerk, who explained the importance of young, innovative companies ensuring their IP is protected.

Dirk Schaefer, Incubator Manager at the University of Warwick Science Park, said: โ€œThis eighth meeting really showed how much the Ignite Alumni Network has matured, with a great mix of familiar faces and new members all sharing their expertise with one another.

โ€œThere was a huge amount of practical insight from the speakers around how much AI services have evolved to genuinely solve client problems in new ways, but also around some of the pitfalls they faced along the way. That kind of honesty is incredibly valuable for our members.

โ€œSince its inception, the Ignite Alumni Network has become a thriving hub where founders stay connected to University of Warwick Science Parkโ€™s ecosystem, benefit from ongoing guidance, and gain visibility for their innovations.

โ€œIts events share knowledge and nurture a supportive culture where entrepreneurs can test ideas, seek advice, and build partnerships that extend well beyond the Midlands.โ€

The network is supported by Ignite Alumni sponsors PLMR MidlandsEdwards Chartered Accountants and new sponsors Marks & Clerk.
